MIPC marked the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity for the Victims of the crime of genocide against Tutsi.
Today, on 9th December, 2022, MIPC marked the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity for the Victims of the crime of genocide against Tutsi and the prevention of this crime as well as anniversary of the 1948 convention on the prevention and punishment of the crime of the genocide, the first human rights treaty adopted by the general Assembly. The Guest of honor was Hon. Mpembyemungu Winifrida, who gave the public talk to the MIPC Staff and students.
The main objectives of today’s public talk were:
- Educate the young generation about the UN Convention on the punishment and prevention of the crime of the genocide.
- Emphasize the importance of preventing and punishing the crime of genocide
- Have students, academics, and members of parliament engage in discussions that will foster their engagement in preventing the crime of genocide.
- Allow for arrange of ideas and opinions to be heard and discussed.
